The emphasis of this class will be to continue building the skills addressed in previous science classes (scientific method, problem solving, interpretation of information, classification, organization, critical thinking, effective communication, etc.). The content material will focus on basic biological concepts. Areas of emphasis include ecology, adaptation & diversity, organismal organization, cellular biology, genetics and biochemistry. It is difficult, if not impossible, to understand biology without considering other disciplines of science, therefore a variety of chemical and physical concepts will be discussed as well. Throughout the course, how the disciplines of science are inter-dependent and their application to everyday life is stressed.
